Welcome International Tigers!

The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) welcomed more than 90 new international exchange and degree seeking students, from 32 countries to campus to begin their studies.  This week they were joined by over 210 returning students and 19 English Language Center students. Together they represent our dynamic and culturally diverse international student population. The international student orientation program was the culmination of a weeklong series of programs designed to help students adjust to the United States, Towson, and the University.

The ISSO staff was assisted by our International Ambassadors, a select group of domestic and international continuing students who volunteered to assist fellow students in navigating their new university environment. Their communications began almost two months before the students arrived in the United States through e-mail and social media and continued up to the start of classes.

The diversity, scholarship, and goodwill that they contribute to our community are invaluable. We are delighted they are here and wish them success this semester and beyond. As Chris Powers, Assistant Vice President for International Initiatives indicates, “It was exciting to see our newest class of international students on campus. TU is truly a global university, with students from Australia to Zambia, and so many places in between. Whether it is in our classes and labs, our clubs or our sports teams, TU international students are enriching and strengthening the entire Towson community.”

Please join the ISSO and TU International in welcoming our new and continuing students to campus.
