TU Sport for Life in Colorado – Performance and Play Across the Lifespan
Study away in Colorado with Towson University in summer 2023. Known as the mile-high city, Denver is home to world-leading centers of sport focused on the holistic development of athletes for professional and international/Olympic competition, as well as researchers, policy makers, and non-profit organizations dedicated to the promotion of physical activity participation across the lifespan. This exciting new program will allow participants to gain a thorough understanding of the cultural, political and scientific aspects of sport and physical activity in the United States through a uniquely in-depth perspective and first-hand experience of the organizations leading national trends.
Based in Denver and Colorado Springs, the program features site visits to world-class facilities and direct experiences of fitness and play that are unique to this region. Highlights include guest lectures by professionals from a variety of sport and performance-related organizations, visits to sport and training venues, and opportunities to gain professional experience and knowledge regarding domestic and internationally competing sport, and physical activity policies and programs aimed at promoting participation for all ages.
Participants will take KNES 494 Travel and Study in Kinesiology (3 credits) and KNES 471 Selected Topics in Exercise Science (3 credits) for a total of 6 credits with Prof. Kyle Leppert and Prof. Jake Bustad.
