Booster Vaccination Deadline is Jan. 31 for Eligible Students, Faculty and Staff
In alignment with the recent University System of Maryland announcement, TU is requiring all eligible students, faculty and staff on campus this spring term to receive a COVID-19 booster and provide proof of booster vaccination by Monday, Jan. 31 or within 14 days of becoming eligible. You can check your vaccination status any time at towson.edu/vaxstatus.
The CDC recommends a COVID booster vaccination for all individuals 18 years or older five months after completing a two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccination course and two months after receiving a Johnson & Johnson single dose. Additionally, to meet the requirement, a booster does not need to be the same as the initial vaccine administered and can be a Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
If you’ve already received a booster you can submit proof now to meet the requirement or submit by Jan. 31 at towson.edu/vaxverify.
Recently COVID Positive Individuals:
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID, based on CDC guidance, are eligible to have a booster administered after recovering from illness and completing any necessary isolation. Individuals who have tested positive for COVID in the last 90 days will not be required to meet the Jan. 31 deadline, but will still be required to receive a booster this term. Faculty and staff should consult their healthcare provider with questions and booster eligibility and students can email healthcenter@towson.edu with booster questions.
Vaccination Exempt Individuals:
Existing approved religious or medical exemptions remain in place and exempt individuals will not need to meet the booster requirement. However, as was the case last term, exemptions require individuals to participate in twice-weekly sentinel testing. Exempt individuals will also be required to once again complete a daily self-screening using the Tigers Care QuickScan.
Booster Vaccination Ineligible Individuals:
Individuals who are not yet eligible for a booster based on their date of last vaccination dose will be required to receive and verify a booster vaccination within 14 days of eligibility.
If you need a vaccine booster you can find a vaccine site near you by visiting vaccines.gov. All employees may use a reasonable amount of administrative time to receive a booster by providing confirmation that the shot is obtained during a regularly scheduled shift. TU is also implementing additional health and safety measures for the start of the spring term. Read the full message with updates on return tests and masks that was shared last week.
