Summer 2022 Study Away in Puerto Rico – Core 7

Study Introduction to Biology in the Caribbean in Summer 2022.

This faculty-led study away course allows students to study introductory biology in Puerto Rico and fulfill the a Core 7 lab science requirement. Students will explore unique ecosystems and interact with local plants and animals in Puerto Rico. Participants will learn about ecology, evolution, genetics, and the scientific process. Students will conduct authentic research while hiking in a cloud forest and kayaking a bioluminescent bay. Program highlights include a visit to discover La Parguera mangroves and El Yunque National Forest.

Students will take both of the following courses for a total of 4 credits to fulfill a Core 7 requirement:

  • BIOL 120 Principles of Biology – Lecture (3 credits)
  • BIOL 120L Principles of Biology – Lab (1 credit)
