External Siren and Emergency Alerts Test Today at 1 p.m.

The Office of Public Safety will be conducting a test of the university’s external outdoor emergency siren system and emergency alert systems today, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m.

The siren test should last no more than a few minutes. The siren test will consist of multiple alert tones as well as messages that indicate this is only a test and the test is complete.

At the same time, a test will also be conducted via emergency text message alert, email alert and digital screens across campus. To sign up for emergency text alerts, visit the Office of Public Safety emergency alerts page. If you do not receive the text alert at 1 p.m., you’ve not completed the registration process and should check your account status via the emergency alerts page.

Members of the university community should be aware this is only a test; no action is required unless a building internal fire alarm system is activated—you will need to evacuate if that occurs.

Any individual who has a question about the test should contact Environmental Health & Safety at x4-2949.
