Gamification 2: Choose-Your-Own-Adventure YouTube Stories

Thursday, October 28, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Learn the skills to make (and teach) interactive filmmaking using YouTube.

Interactive, game-like experiences can help students engage more deeply with academic content. Making those interactive experiences to teach an audience will take your students to a whole new level of understanding your material.

The Emmy-award winning Black Mirror: Bandersnatch recently created renewed interest in the rich history of interactive storytelling and branching narrative. Choose-Your-Own-Adventure stories are a format that brings user-choice into a linear narrative, and YouTube makes this interactive format accessible for filmmaking. Using simple tools available in YouTube’s interface, you and your students can create branching, choice-based video experiences to learn and teach your content area through interactive video projects. Lunch will be provided to in-person attendees.
