Traffic Alert: Overnight Closures & Detours Along York Road
There will be temporary lane closures and road closures/detours on York Road this week. The closures are necessary as crews pave the roadway in front of the privately-owned Towson Row development.
Overnight closures and detours of northbound and southbound York Road from Chesapeake Avenue to Towsontown Boulevard will occur from:
- 10 p.m. Tuesday, September 14 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 15
- 10 p.m. Wednesday, September 15 to 5 a.m. Thursday, September 16
- 10 p.m. Thursday, September 16 to 5 a.m. Friday, September 17
Motorists traveling to destinations within downtown Towson will be redirected to a signed detour route including Chesapeake Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Towsontown Boulevard and Washington Avenue. Portable variable message signs and detour signs will guide drivers through the detour route while York Road is closed.
Motorists are asked to use the Towson Bypass (W. Burke Avenue/Bosley Avenue) west of Towson to avoid the detour area. For questions about the detours, contact the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) District 4 Office at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.
