TODAY! “Simulating the Stability and Control of a Suspended Pendulum Fabry-Perot Cavity”

Topic: PAGS Department Seminar (11/6/2020)

Please plan to join Dr. James Overduin this Friday, November 6th at 11:00am for the PAGS Department Zoom Seminar when he will host Mr. Jonathan Perry.  Mr. Perry is a PAGS senior who was invited this past summer to work remotely for LIGO, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory. LIGO now detects gravitational waves at a rate of several per month from collisions of black holes and neutron stars throughout the universe. Jon will explain why this work is important, describe his contributions, and talk to students in the audience about how they can become involved as well.
