October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)
Since 2004, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) have designated October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). Towson University participates in this annual global effort as a 2020 NCSAM Champion, and supports this year’s theme: Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart. The theme empowers us all to take responsibility when handling sensitive data or using cyberspace.
Here’s what you can do to join the annual global effort:
- Attend the Office of Information Security’s 2020 NCSAM Webinar on Friday, October 16: How to Identify and Protect Yourself from Online Scams. Visit towson.edu/securityawareness for details.
- Complete the 2020 Information Security Awareness Refresh Training when you receive the notification in your TU email.
- Request an Office of Information Security (OIS) team member to give an interactive phishing or security awareness presentation to your group or department by submitting a TechHelp service request.
- Visit TU’s Security Awareness webpage for resources.
- Follow TU’s technology accounts on Twitter @TechAtTU and Facebook @TechnologyAtTU for tips and relevant articles.
- Check out the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s STOP.THINK.CONNECT. website.
