Multiculturalism In Action Brown Bag Series Today!
The Multiculturalism in Action Brown Bag Series is focused on showcasing the multicultural and diversity related scholarly activities taking place on Towson University’s campus.
This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to meet and engage with each other around multicultural scholarship in a supportive space. Each event is virtual from 12 – 1:15 PM.
Join us as we host Dr. Kate Collins, Program Director Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts Infusion on Sept 16th from 12 – 1:15 PM, Zoom login info is in the link.
In this session, attendees will learn about the arts-based pedagogical innovations of the Youth Artists and Allies taking Action in Society (YAAAS!) project, where TU graduate students work alongside of refugee youth. Project director Kate Collins and graduate student Ana Maria Economou, will share the ways in which the reciprocal learning design of YAAAS has evolved. Complimented by a photo narrative and intertwined with student feedback, the session will explore the culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogical approaches used to support English language acquisition and social adjustment of refugee youth while also expanding the global competency of the educators who work in partnership.
