Parking refunds: an update on payroll deduction

Towson University is issuing fair adjustments to faculty and staff parking permit charges as a result of the USM’s move to system-wide telework. Understanding that employees are eager to know when their adjustments will be processed, we are providing updated information on the timeline.

The state of Maryland has confirmed that parking permit charges will no longer be deducted from employee paychecks beginning April 15.  This was the earliest processing date possible, and we commend the state, TU’s Parking & Transportation Services, and TU’s Auxiliary Services Business Office for working swiftly and collaboratively to make it happen. The payroll deduction refund amounts on the Faculty and Staff Parking Permit Refunds page reflect the April 15 date.

In addition to stopping payroll deductions, prorated refunds for parking permit charges will be issued. Employees with direct deposit will see the refund via direct deposit; employees without direct deposit will receive a mailed check. We expect employees to begin receiving refunds in mid to late May. It may take several weeks for all employees to receive their refunds. We ask for your patience as we continue working with the state to issue refunds in a fair and timely manner.

Refund amounts are based on the permit type, payment method and purchase date. Faculty and staff can log into the eParking portal to access their permit details. Deduction amounts are located on employee paystubs, which can be accessed via the Payroll Online Service Center (POSC). First-time users should follow the POSC sign-up instructions.
