Getting to Know (and Use) OER
Getting to Know (and Use) OER
Thursday, March 5th
4:00pm-5:00pm
Cook Library, Room 526
As part of Cook Library’s observance of Open Education Week, join librarian Rick Davis for an introductory session on open educational resources (OER). Rick will provide a working definition of OER, distinguishing them from other free (but not open) educational resources and from reduced-cost options like the University Store’s Direct Access and Affordable Course Materials Initiative. He will also discuss the basics of open licenses so that you can be sure your use of OER complies with their terms of use. Finally, he’ll demonstrate how faculty can find relevant OER on some of the best-known and widely used OER repositories and referatories.
