Cyberthreats have become more common and severe each day, and the need for cyber professionals is steadily increasing. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, reports that the rate of growths for jobs in information security is projected at 32% from 2018-2028- that’s much faster than the average for all other occupations.
Reasons to consider a career in cybersecurity
- You’ll be in high demand. Cybersecurity professionals are in high demand and companies will offer someone with the right skill set a competitive salary and benefits package. According to cyberseek.org, there are more than 300,000 cybersecurity jobs waiting to be filled.
- You’ll get ongoing development and cutting edge skills. With cyberthreats constantly growing and becoming more severe, cybersecurity professionals have to keep up with the latest technology and skills to protect their employers.

Cybersecurity programs at TU
TU’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences started one of the first undergraduate cybersecurity tracks in the nation, and the first in Maryland. TU’s Computer Science, with a track in Cyber Operations undergraduate program, is one of 21 institutions on the NSA’s list of Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations.
