Gotcha Bikes ceasing operations this week
Gotcha Bikes has notified Towson University that it will cease operations on campus this week, citing the inability to fulfill its fleet of bikes and ongoing technical issues with equipment.
Gotcha informed TU that operations will cease on October 4 as part of a larger movement to withdraw altogether from smaller markets and scale back in larger markets.
TU contracted with Gotcha earlier in the year after the contract with SPIN bikes concluded. SPIN, along with much of the industry, had shifted its focus away from bikes to scooters.
The Gotcha bike share soft-launched prior to the fall semester with less than 30 bikes. The company was unable to supply more bikes to campus beyond the initial pilot as planned when the academic year began.
