Coming soon: external email tagging to increase phishing awareness for faculty & staff

Published by Weldon, Jennifer on June 12, 2019 12:40 am Comments Off on Coming soon: external email tagging to increase phishing awareness for faculty & staff in General

In the next few weeks, Towson University will be implementing a phishing awareness tool for faculty and staff.

All emails received in TU Outlook accounts from external (non-TU) senders will be tagged with a line of text reminding faculty and staff to be vigilant when handling email from external sources. Lack of the tag doesn’t mean the email is safe, just as seeing the tag doesn’t mean it’s safe. Using extra caution will help prevent phishing cyberattacks.

Stay tuned for TU Today for more information. If you receive a suspicious email, continue to forward it to phishing@towson.edu or use the “Report Phish” button (PDF) in Outlook.
