Please Join Us on Friday, 4/26, for a Zine Making Workshop
Not Alone. Not Silent: Stories of survivorship and healing
Friday, April 26, 2019
1:00pm – 4:00pm
CK507 – The Towson Room
Join us for a zine making workshop on survivorship, healing, and reclamation of self. We’ll discuss the history of zines, different types of zines, dominant narratives, and why telling your story is not only revolutionary but an important aspect of social justice work. There will be a brainstorming session followed by ample time to make your zine page(s) for a collaborative zine. Materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own images, clippings, prose, or materials to use in creating their zine. Sample zines will be available to read and draw inspiration from. Participants will walk away knowing how to create and publish zines.
Dawn Stahura is the Research and Instruction Librarian at Simmons University. For more information on zines, see https://simmons.libguides.com/zines.
Light refreshments will be served.
