Nordic Folklore & Contemporary Literature in Translation, Iceland (Faculty-led Study Abroad)

Nordic Folklore and Contemporary Literature in Translation, Iceland

Discover Iceland in summer 2019 with TU Professor Carol Quinn!  Immerse yourself in a culture that is both ancient and extraordinarily modern while studying traditional Nordic folklore in context and learning how narratives and traditions continue to influence literature created in the twenty-first century.

Based in the vibrant artistic city of Reykjavik, participants will also explore the historically significant Þingvellir National Park – site of the Viking Parliament, the remote and unspoiled Westfjords, and the natural wonders of  the western region. Program highlights include guest lectures from local experts, participation in local festivals, and a visit to the National Museum of Iceland.

Students will choose one of the following courses:

ENGL 244 World Folklore (3 credits)
ENGL 494 Travel and Study (3 credits)
ENGL 594 Travel and Study (grad only, 3 credits)

TU students in the Honors College may receive Honors credit for their study abroad experience.
