Move-In Traffic Changes & Lot Closures Aug. 19-28

Fall 2022 move-in will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 24 through Sunday, Aug 28. Read on for move-in related parking changes and traffic processes, including lot closures and one-way traffic on Cross Campus Drive.

Garage & Lot Adjustments

Union Garage

  • The ground-level portion of the garage nearest Cross Campus Drive will close at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22. All vehicles must be removed from the area at this time or it will be relocated at the owner’s expense.
  • On Tuesday, August 23 vehicles, will be able to drive through this portion of the garage, but the spaces nearest Cross Campus Drive will be unavailable for parking.
  • Vehicles with Glen Tower A move-in permits will be directed through the ground level drive lane to the access road where they will be directed to unloading spaces near Tower A.   Please remember, a driver needs to stay with the vehicle. Once the vehicle is unloaded, the vehicle must be moved to the Union garage for parking.
  • On Wednesday, August 24 the interior ground-level portion of the garage becomes two-way traffic.  Please use caution.
  • All entrances and exits will reopen for normal use at the end of the day Friday, Aug. 26.

West Village Area

  • The third level of the West Village Garage will remain open, offering access to visitor and overflow parking spaces.
  • Lot 1 in front of Enrollment Services will close from 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. Please ensure all vehicles are removed during this time or they will be relocated at the owner’s expense. Alternate faculty/staff parking is available in the West Village Garage and the upper levels of the Union Garage.  Those with mobility issues may request a Paratransit ride by calling 410-704-RIDE or emailing uride@towson.edu.
  • The West Village walkway near Lot 1, will be open to vehicles for unloading from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 through Sunday, Aug. 28. Follow the directions of posted signs and on-duty staff members.  Outside of these times, vehicles must be parked in an authorized space or temporarily use a designated “Move-In” space.
  • Millennium Hall lots will not be used for fall move-in. As a reminder, Millennium Hall parking is restricted to those with a Millennium Hall permit. Violators will be issued citations and may be towed.

Residence Tower & 10 West

  • Lot 14 near the Health & Counseling Center will be closed from 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 28
  • The 10 West garage (Lot 15) will be restricted to 10 West residents for unloading from 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 through 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.  During this time, 10 West residents may park in the core spaces on the upper levels of the Towsontown Garage.

Traffic & Parking Processes

  •  Cross Campus Drive will be designated for one-way, westbound traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 24 – 26.
  • From Aug. 11 through Sept. 8, there will be designated “Move-In” spaces located near each residence hall for additional move-in items.
  •  Vehicles may only park in “Move-In” spaces for 15 minutes. A permit is not required to park in a “Move-In” space. A driver must remain with the vehicle and, after unloading, move the vehicle to an authorized Core, Overflow, or Resident space for which parking permits are required.
  • At no time is any vehicle permitted to park in marked/designated fire lanes, in a roadway, on sidewalks, on grass, or in an otherwise reserved space, even for a few minutes. Violators will be issued citations and may be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Only vehicles displaying a state-issued accessible (handicapped) license plate/placard may be parked in an accessible space. Vehicles must have both the accessible license plate/placard and a valid TU parking permit to park in accessible spaces. Violators will be issued citations and may be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • The Gold shuttle will be available for the fall semester beginning at 5 p.m. Aug. 22. SafeRide will be available from midnight to 7 a.m., and can be requested by calling 410-704-RIDE. Regular shuttle service will resume on Monday, Aug. 29.
