Thesis Dissertation Defense for Gregory Klock, Master’s in Social Science

The Social Science graduate program in the College of Liberal Arts is pleased to announce the thesis dissertation defense of Gregory Klock on Wednesday, May 18, 1:00pm on Zoom. The title of Gregory’s dissertation is Do Our Teachers Look Like Our Students? Case Studies in Teacher of Color Displacement and Lessons for Baltimore. Dr. Jeremy Tasch is the thesis advisor.

The number of educators who identify as people of color has declined significantly over the past twenty years in the United States. This trend, identified by Lawrence Brown in The Black Butterfly, is analyzed in the context of three different public school districts: NOLA Public Schools, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and Oakland Unified, with lessons applied to Baltimore County Public School System.
