Faculty Leadership Opportunities

The Office of the Provost is excited to announce internal searches for two positions to support Academic Affairs in its contribution to the TU 2020-2030 Strategic Plan: Leadership for the Public Good. It is anticipated that the positions will be posted by the end of the week.

Associate Provost Academic Affairs

The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs will serve as a key member of the Office of the Provost and the Academic Affairs leadership team, with multiple responsibilities furthering the academic mission of the university.

 

This internal search is an opportunity for an interested and qualified faculty member for an initial 3 year appointment effective July 1, 2021 with the possibility of renewal at the end of the initial appointment. This is a twelve month administrative staff position with faculty return rights. Candidates should submit a letter of interest and an updated c.v. via Employment at TU once the position has been posted.  The closing date for review of applications is May 3, 2021. The AP of Academic Affairs will:

·         Report directly to the Provost and serve on the Provost’s Council

·         Provide leadership and support for curriculum and program development

·         Provide oversight for the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Office of Competitive Fellowships and Awards.

·         Collaborate with the Office of Assessment and Director of Accreditation and Compliance Services to support their activities related to the university’s maintenance of Middle States accreditation, the University System of Maryland (USM), and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). 

·         Oversee programs at satellite locations, including Shady Grove, Hagerstown, Southern Maryland, TUNE, and TLN

·         Collaborate with Student Affairs in coordinating student success initiatives

·         Facilitate the implementation of the Academic Affairs Strategic Plan

Qualifications:

·         Full professor status preferred

·         Demonstrated knowledge of curricular and program development process

·         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

·         Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Supervisory experience

Associate Provost Administration and Finance

The Associate Provost for Administration and Finance will serve as chief advisor to the Provost on all issues related to Academic Affairs finance and accounting, budgeting, academic facilities management, information technology, and purchasing.


This internal search is an opportunity for an interested and qualified faculty member for an initial 3 year appointment effective July 1, 2021 with the possibility of renewal at the end of the initial appointment.  This is a twelve month administrative staff position with faculty return rights. The AP of Administration and Finance will:

·         Manage, direct, and supervise budget staff in the Provost’s Budget Office.

·         Engage in strategic budgeting and planning for the division.

·         Work closely with the VP Administration &Finance to ensure compliance with USM, State, and Federal policies and regulations, and the standards of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

·         Monitor and provide assistance in budgeting for all departments within Academic Affairs.

·         Coordinate the utilization of academic facilities, including space usage and classroom technology.

·         Collaborate with the Office of Technology Services to identify and support information technology initiatives for the division.

Qualifications:

·         Advanced degree in a relevant field, with preference given to business, accounting, finance, and related programs of study

·         Full Professor status preferred

·         Demonstrated knowledge of financial forecasting

·         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

·         Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Supervisory experience

·         Experience with identifying and implementing technology solutions
