Legislative Auditors Are Here: Details & Guidance

Representatives from the State Office of Legislative Audits (OLA) have recently arrived on campus to begin their comprehensive audit of the campus as required by state law every four years. They started on June 25, 2019.

The auditors will be on campus for approximately six months to review records and processes for the period covering July 1, 2015 through June 24, 2019 (audit period).

While here, they will interview staff, observe operations, review documentation and perform testing of our processes within the audit period. Department employees may also be randomly contacted by the auditors to review certain records (e.g., purchasing card, student financial aid records, admission applications, payroll, cash receipt documentation, and Information Systems controls).

As a campus, we have made great strides to implement the corrective actions the auditors recommended in their previous report.  We appreciate your efforts to work together to strengthen our operations. We welcome the opportunity to work with the legislative auditors and recognize that they may identify areas of improvement, creating even greater efficiencies going forward.

The OLA FAQs are a helpful reference guide to use when working with the auditors.

If you have any questions regarding the audit, please contact Vasu Bhatt, in Management Advisory and Compliance Services (MACS), at vbhatt@towson.edu or x4-2114.
