Upcoming scheduled power outages: how to avoid losing your work and prevent computer issues

There will be scheduled campus-wide power outages on Monday, January 21 at 5:30 a.m., and Friday, January 25 at 5:30 a.m. for electrical system upgrades. Both outages will last approximately 10 minutes.

There will also be a scheduled Cook Library power outage on Monday, January 21 from 7-8 a.m. to upgrade cell phone antenna systems on campus.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • TU computers will be unavailable at start of each outage until you physically turn it on upon returning to your office. This means you will be unable to remote into your computer during that time.
  • Avoid data loss, protect your work, and prevent technology-related issues: before leaving campus the night before the scheduled outages, the Office of Technology Services (OTS) recommends saving your work and turning off computers, network printer and copiers.

If you have questions about protecting your work or technology equipment, contact the OTS Faculty/Staff Help Center at 410-704-5151.
