Study Abroad Scholarship for Pell Recipients

Do you receive the Federal Pell Grant? If so, you could be eligible to apply for the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for your Fall 2019 study abroad program! Join us Wednesday, February 20 for a workshop about Gilman and how to write a winning scholarship essay. The workshop will take place in Psychology #407 from 3:00-4:00pm.

To be eligible for a Gilman Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Receive the Federal Pell Grant
  • Apply for a program of at least 3 consecutive weeks in a single country with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2
  • Not have previously received and accepted the Gilman Scholarship

Gilman offers scholarships of up to $5,000 with supplemental awards of up to $3,000 available for applicants who are studying a critical need language. The deadline to apply for Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and Academic Year 2019-2020 is March 5, 2019. For more information about eligibility requirements and application instructions visit the Gilman Scholarship at https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/.

IMPORTANT: All students (except those participating in a TU faculty-led program) must attend a group advising session and meet with a Study Abroad Advisor before applying for the Gilman Scholarship. Group Advising sessions are held Monday through Friday at 2:00 pm in Rm. #408 on the 4th floor of the Psychology Building.
